2016 is coming to an end, and now it’s time to look to the new year. Have you made any resolutions for 2017?
If you have some reluctant readers in your house, reading more as a family might be on your list of resolutions. While it might seem like a scary prospect, we do have some great book recommendations that can help to break the ice and ignite a passion for reading.
Luckily for us there are some ingenious authors, illustrators and publishers out there that want to help bridge the gap for reluctant readers and provide them with books that they can fall in love with. They want to inspire confidence in the reader, and make them proud to say they enjoyed a book, instead of feeling awkward and embarrassed about reading.
Books that use short paragraphs, funky fonts and illustrations can all help to break up the hurdles of reading. Simplifying topics, and choosing ways to make them fun and interactive is also a great way to engage with the reader.
Here we have a selection of books, that are ideal for reluctant readers. If you would like to read more on this topic, have a look at our Reluctant Reader posts from author Alan Gibbons and publisher Nick Pierce.
