Hamster Sitter Wanted is one of Maverick's August releases and we managed to get our hands on a copy!
This week we were sent a sneak peek copy of Hamster Sitter Wanted. We have been looking forward to reading this book since the cover art was advertised with Hannah Marks’ brilliant illustrations. Let’s dive into the book…
Hamster Sitter Wanted by Tracy Gunaratnam and Hannah Marks
Tracy Gunaratnam’s wit shines through in this story about Marco and Polo’s cousins coming to stay.
Aunt Fluff has decided that she needs some time alone (don’t we all?!) so she has sent her little hamsters to play with Marco and Polo.
But this is truly ruining their plans. They have to go skydiving, climbing and lion dancing!
Marco and Polo decide to look for a hamster sitter, and get a few offers. The story shows what happens when Ms Bottomus, Mr Yogani, and Mrs Baaton try to control the little hamster whilst Marco and Polo go on their adventures.
Well, of course, disaster ensues.
Can Marco and Polo find the perfect hamster sitter or will they have to give up their adventures?
Why we love it
The illustrations in Hamster Sitter Wanted are absolutely amazing. Each hamster has its own unique style and kids will adore searching through the pages looking for the hidden details.
All the hamsters have different names, which made us laugh! Watch out for Stinky, he’s our favourite!
Who is it for?
We recommend this book for children aged 2 to 6.
Big brother and sisters and well as children with lots of cousins will appreciate this story as they know very well the chaos that comes with family visits!
